About the Gallery of Gemstones

The Gallery of Gemstones presents a unique gemstone and jewelry collection built over the last decade. Each piece was individually acquired for its special beauty, rarity, scientific interest, or value.

The Gallery is designed to share with other gem and jewelry devotees the aesthetic attributes of the collection-- while providing the opportunity to purchase select items. Please note that the Gallery presents only small portion of the overall collection. If you are interested in a specific specimen not seen here, please contact me with your interests.

The Gallery features a wide variety of gem rough, loose gemstones and finished jewelry. The Permanent Exhibit features my personal favorites-- some of which are presented for sale elsewhere in the Gallery. Others have already found new homes in the collections of friends and associates.

Of special interest is the Gemstone Rough for Custom Cuts Exhibit . This section of the Gallery presents a variety of uncut gem minerals. Here you will see what gems look like before they are fashioned by a skilled lapidary. At your request, I will cut the rough of your choice-- creating a custom-cut gem for display in your collection or setting in designer jewelry.

For those on a budget-- but possessing great curiosity for the subject of gemstones-- the Gemstones for Students Exhibit will prove rewarding. Each piece is an authentic sample of the gem specie and provides visual clues to its origin and gemological properties.

Finally, a word about me. The Gallery of Gemstones reflects my life long interest in and study of rocks, minerals, and gemstones. My first specimen was a fist-sized chunk of quartz plucked from my grandfather's garden. Since that time I have acquired a BA in Geology, and an MBA in Management. I am a Graduate Gemologist-- granted through the Gemological Institute of America-- and a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Prior to designing this website, I developed and managed the New York City-based gem and jewelry testing laboratory for a major national retailer.

Allow me to share this gemological interest and experience with you through the Gallery of Gemstones. Let these exhibits introduce you to a world of beauty, rarity, science and value. As always, I look forward to your questions and comments.
